The Men Surviving Violence Fund

The Surviving Violence Fund dedicates $15,000 to Black men who have financial needs due to surviving violence.

OVERVIEW

OVERVIEW

The Men Surviving Violence Fund is dedicating $500 each to 30 Black men who are navigating the impacts of violence whether it be physical, emotional, mental, sexual, caused by a job, or by the police and prison system.

We call this type of violence  patriarchal violence, because it is based in the idea that power = domination = masculinity and that care = weakness = femininity. Our society currently operates on this model, and though it privileges men over other kinds of people, it harms them too. This fund is designed to relieve some of that harm.

Key Information

  1. The Men Surviving Violence Fund is for folks who identify as men or a masculine person.

  2. The fund will be dispersed through a nomination process. Members of the Survivor Society community can nominate 1 person each, including themselves, if desired.

  3. Got survivor funds before? That’s ok! All previous grantees are eligible for funding.

  4. Awards are for $500 each

What would be possible for your life and our communities if we relinquished the idea that domination = power = masculinity?
